How quickly can I pass my driving test?
The quickest way is to apply for your  provisional driving license 3 months before your birthday. Once you recieve it you can book your Theory/Hazard test for day of your birthday. Once you pass the Theory/hazard test you can book your practical driving test.

You can then complete an intensive course or take weekly lessons. 

How many lessons will I need?
Everyone is different and will need a different lessons. There are other factors that are relevant. These are if you have ridden a motorbike or had any driving experience. Another factor will be you will be getting any additional private practice.








Most instructors agree that for most people it is between 1-2 lessons per year of your life. So a 20 yeart old could take between 20 - 40 hours. Some instructors recommend a minimum of 40 hours. Remember it is not just being able to control the car but also about gaining experience in lots of different situations. There is a  basic syllabus of lessons that all instructors should teach and these need to be covered fully. It would be unrealistic to expect to cover this in less than 20 hours. Remember you are learning to be a good/safe driver - not just pass the driving test.

The DSA say 'Those whopass their driving test have had, on avergae, about 45 hours of professional training, combined with 22 hours of private practice.

What Car do I use for my test?
This is normally the instuctors car that you learnt in. If you would feel more comfortable in your own car it must comply with the legal requirements.

What is the new drivers act?
Your licence is automatically revoked if you build up 6 or more points within 2 years of passing your first driving test. This includes any penalty points you had before passing the test, which are still valid. You will have to reapply for your driving licence, and retake your theory/hazard test and driving test.
